No sew TuTu gown

For something so pretty, this dress was so simple to make!
Recently I went home for a visit, and while we were there I scheduled to have photos taken (if you're in the Florida Panhandle I highly recommend Jesus Nieves Photography!) The night before I had the bright idea to make a dress for the pictures. I had no supplies with me, so I set out for the easiest dress I could find. After a few google searches and a trip to Hobby Lobby, I had the stuff to get started.

I purchased 3 yards of white tulle, 3 yards of purple tulle. A purple crochet headband, some ribbon and a pretty bouquet of flowers I found in the wedding section on clearance! I spent less than $20!

I started off by measuring Annaliese from her armpit to her feet, then doubled that number, and that's how long I cut the tulle. So if it was 20 inches from armpit to floor you'd cut the tulle into 40 inch sections. Then I took those and cut them into 6 inch strips. This was actually the 'hardest' part of everything!
Then I took the strips of tulle and looped them through the bottom row of holes on the headband, then looped the tulle through itself to tie a knot. I did the bottom row alternating the white and purple. It slowly started to look like this...
Once I got all the way around I decided to make a 2nd layer. So I went up to the next row of holes on the headband and did 2 purple strips for every 1 white strip of tulle. And when it was done it was exactly what I wanted! To finish it off I ran some ribbon through the front, over the shoulders and through the back of the headband to create straps. And then hot glued a flower I ripped off the bouquet! It's was adorable, affordable and took me less than an hour from start to finish!
In the end I took a few of my favorite pictures, and ordered a poster size collage. I had a Walgreens coupon so it was only $14 for a 20" x 30" poster. I hung it up for her birthday party and it was perfect!

Easy, edible bath paints!

I am all for my toddler exploring her creative side, just not the mess that goes with it. I've seen a lot of articles and blogs boasting about bath tub paint or crayons. I love the idea but they get pretty pricey! So I did a quick google search and found this genius idea! Take some vanilla pudding, divide it up and add food coloring. That's it! Quick, easy, fun, no worries if your kid eats it, like mine did. And it easily washes right down the drain!  SUCCESS!!

Bakers rack saved from certain death!

So maybe that's a bit dramatic! But I did find this Bakers Rack sitting at the dumpster at our apartments... I didn't get the greatest before pic, but it was a pretty basic black metal bakers rack with a wood shelf. It looked like it had been attacked with yellow spray paint. It was pretty ugly. But nothing a $5 can of spray paint and some stencils couldn't fix!! I taped off the shelf and spray painted the metal with a silver 'hammered' look paint. It took 2 coats to really cover up some of that yellow!      Then after it dried I set off to beautify the shelf! I recently got new curtains for the living room, which are actually shower curtains but that's not the point. Lol. They have a really pretty floral pattern and I love the colors. So I figured why not make the rack match! Here are the new curtains, AKA my inspiration!  I used a sample size of a cream colored paint I had and some stencils I got for $4 at AC Moore. The stencils definite...
